A Special Week for Learning and Fun

Hello again from the YELLOW FROGS!!!  Well, this was a very special week.  Monday was Children's Day in Turkey and what a day it was!  We had a really exciting day at school on Monday.  Our schoolmates in the primary school put on a wonderful show and then it was time for fun in the garden!  Ice cream, lollipops, cotton candy and 4 giant areas to climb, jump, bounce and slide.  What a great time!  Tuesday was a day off from school and then it was back to class on Wednesday.  As always, here are some pictures of what we did in our classes.

Here are some pictures of the Yellow Frogs at play.  Playing is an important part of our day at school.  We aren't just playing, we are learning how to share, solve problems, communicate and use our imaginations.  Also, it's a lot of fun being together with our friends.

Matthew and Polat are showing off their Lego creations.

What are these boys making?  Cars, spaceships, aliens, cars...the sky's the limit!

Alican made this tall tower, complete with a carpark.

Selin, Mina, Ecem and Derin used some banners from Monday's celebration to make some new art projects.  They came up with their ideas all by themselves.  Way to go girls!
Ecrin and Avşin joined in as well.  They decorated an old shoe box and turned it into something wonderful.

Now it's time for some math.  We completed a really different math worksheet.  We had to read the numbers and draw the correct number of teeth in the creature's mouth.  For example, 4 + 5 meant that we had to draw 4 teeth on the top of the mouth and 5 teeth on the bottom.  Then we had to write the correct sum.  It was really fun for us!  Here are some pictures of us at work:

We are experienced at doing math, so these worksheets were no problem for us.
After we finished, we took turns doing the problems on the board to check our answers.  We also did some extra problems because we liked the exercise very much.  Have a look.

Every Wednesday is book day for the Yellow Frogs.  We always bring books from home to share with our friends.  We know the importance of books and we enjoy the quiet times when we can share and look at our books.
Polat and Ecem look really interested in those books.

Derin and Mina share a quiet moment looking at a book about Dora.

Alperen is patiently waiting for his turn to look at Matthew's book.
Ege has got a book of fairytales and Ömer  has got one of Caillou's adventures.
The Yellow Frogs love books!

Well, it's time to say goodbye again for another week.  We sure had a great time on Monday!  We will enjoy our weekend at home and be ready for school again on Monday.  Our new theme will be INSECTS!  The Yellow Frogs are sure to learn a lot of new things next week.  We'll be back soon with more pics and info.  Bye!!!

In the mood for Children's Day!!!

This week we made a brand new start with the most fabulous stations ever! We played games, danced and were all smiles.  This week was terrific. We are all thankful to the founder of our republic, Atatürk, who gave 23rd of April as a present for all the children around the country.

In one of the stations we played 'Statue game' in which we were supposed to dance when the music played. However, the moment music stopped, we had to FREEZE and do what our teacher said.
Here, our teacher asked us to touch our friends' heads. Kaan is touching both his friend's head and his own :)

It's time to show the feet, boys :)

Before station finished, we chose our winner who didn't move, speak or laugh when tickled :) This very special winner got his or her  'winner' medal while the other got the medal of 'participant'. We learned that the game matters itself, neither the act of winning nor losing.

...and here comes D-day. We put on our costumes for the big dance show. These are our friends from Spain. Hello boys...

I spy with my little eye a girl dressed in red. :)

After our performance, we needed to have 'play time' to load extra energy for our immune system :)
However, girls never wanted to stop dancing.

Ege preferred playing with the toy he brought from home .

Here is a link you can enjoy with your kids:

When the day is done, we will say goodbye to you.
           Thanks for viewing our blog.
Hope to see you soon :)

Bitkiler

Merhaba,
